World News reported recently that new start ups by Gen X and Y are out to overthrow big business as rulers of the marketplace. Today’s entrepreneurs are catering to a new generation that would rather share cars than own them, raise capital from peers instead of borrowing from banks and live in communities versus own their own homes.

An article in today’s USA Today (November 23, 2011) provides statistics on the new reality of family living. There are 5.1 Million multi-generational families living together in 2010 up from 4.2 million in the year 2000. This means three or more generations are living under one roof. The implications for the workplace are far reaching.
A new survey by Cisco reveals some interesting statistics about the next generation of workers and how they place greater value on technology and remote working environments. Generation Y is heavily influencing ALL of the demographics on what is considered high value in the workplace today.
